strength of m+p
controllled study to prevent extraneous variables eg, baseline test at 9 months old and controlled condition of buolding blocks. Alberts behaviour was filmed, helps conclude that observed effects were due to conditioning.
weakness of M+P
sample- little albert was calm and even tempered, could be suggested that if he had been emotionally unstable, would have shown greater fear. No other participant to compare findings to show if observations are unique or generaliseable.
Ethical and social
-psychological harm, creating fear
-lack of informed consent from mother
+confidentiality by not using hiss real name
+ social implication, helped lead to systematic desensitisation
