A form of listening in which the listening makes verbal and non-verbal contributions to the conversation with the intention of understanding the speaker’s message

Listen to what someone has to say but will do so while making judgements about that person and the way that person is proceeding with the topic of the conversation

Abbreviated or simplified perceptions of people that are often misleading or inaccurate
