Treatment: use PIP to identify the are that needs to be relieved.

-Usually due to violation of the neutral zone. (posterior teeth placed too far buccaly

A

Cause:
- Poor fit,
- Denture flanges digging into mucosa (chronic)

Treatment:
- Adjust or replace the denture
- Temporary reline (decrease irritation)
- surgical excision of the hyper plastic tissue

when:
- denture loses suction or becomes lose
- place and food build up on fitting surface
- loss of weight
-every 2 years
-6months after immediate denture placement

indirect: (Laboratory Does it)

advantages
- Controlled accurate process
- technician able to finish to a high standard
- high strength
- dense porosity free acrylic

Disadvantages
- slower process, patient without denture for a period of time

Direct (chair side)

advantages
- quick
- patient isn’t without denture

disadvantages
- messy work
- hard to correct mistakes
-acrylic is porous
- dentist needs to polish to high standard.
