Week 7 Flashcards
Give detail into sympathetic division
Fight or flight
preganglionic shorter then post cell bodies of pre in (lateral horn T1-L2)
Secretion of epinephrine and norepinephrine
Inhibit secretion for digestion
Increase sweat
Increase HR
Vasoconstriction
Airway dialation
Talk about parasympathetic
rest and digest
preganglionic longer then post (cervical and sacral) - cell bodies of pre in cranial nerves 3,7,9,10 and S2-S4
secrete digestive enzymes - insulin
Decrease HR
Constrict pupil
Vasodilation
Erection of clitoris and penis
What is the sympathetic trunk
- Group of ganglia located lateral to vertebral bodies
- Contains synapse of pre and post ganglionic
- Possesses connections to spinal nerves
How does sympathetic trunk connect to spinal nerves
Connect to spinal nerve via the:
Pre-ganglionic neuron: in via white ramus
Post-ganglionic neuron: out via grey ramus
Are pre and post ganglionic fibres myelinated or unmyelinated
Pre - myelinated
Post - unmyelinated
Talk thru the cholinergic shit of the parasympathetic system
Pre - releases AcH at nicotinic receptors
Post releases AcH at muscarinic receptor such as smooth muscle
