- parietal pleura (chest wall)

- Parietal pericardium (chest wall)
- Visceral pericardium (lines surface of heart)

Endocardium -> Pericardium -> Epicardium

- Intercostal muscles move outwards and forwards
- Diaphragm moves down
- Floating ribs move up
- Increased volume in thoracic cavity

Describe expiration
- Intercostal muscles move inwards and down
- Diaphragm moves upwards
- Floating ribs move downwards
- Decreased volume in thoracic cavity
- PASSIVE PROCESS
