what are some communication strategies for an individual with hearing loss?
identify if patient has hearing aid and if so when speaking to the client the nurse should:
- reduce environmental noise
- gain client’s attention prior to speaking
- speak near or into the unaffected ear
what are some communication strategies for an individual with vision loss?
- use touch
- allow client to hold your arm when walking
- let client know you’re moving around or leaving
- orient client to the environment

define expressive aphasia
client can understand what is being said but cannot express thoughts or feelings in words

CVA (cerebral vascular accident) aka STROKE
What is dysarthria?
speech motor disorder results in slur speech and client may not be able to control and coordinate the functional movements for speech.
