sunlight, water, air, food and, habitat with an ideal temperature so that we can grow and survive.

no. Cactuses don’t need as much water because they store water in their stem.

light, water, air, space, and warmth.
why do plants need space in order to survive?
the part of the plant that is above ground needs space to grow so that the leaves can expand and do their job of creating food.
how do animals adapt to be able to survive in their environment?
animals change so that they have characteristics that aid in their survival.
what does natural selection and survival of the fittest mean?
natural selection:
the process where certain individuals of a species are better at surviving than others and will therefore, survive and have more children (reproduce).
survival of the fittest:
the phrase refers to the animals who are best able to survive in their environment.
how do animals adapt to life in a wetland?
growing webbed feet, blending into their environment, having different breathing mechanisms that allow them to breathe underwater, and eyelids that allow them to see underwater.
how do plants adapt to life in a wetland?
plants needed to adapt in order to survive in the wet conditions. Some plants like cattails have grown long narrow stems that allow them to grow out of the water so they can get sunlight. The narrow stem allows them to not be affected as much by the water.
how have animal adaptations helped humans develop new technologies?
animals will adapt because of the theory of survival of the fittest. Humans have noticed these adaptations and designed swimming fins, barbed wire, and canoes.
what is biodiversity? Why is it important to study biodiversity?
it is a variety of living things in a given place. We need to understand how we are all connected and dependent on each other.
why are all plants and animals important and not just the big ones? Explain using an example.
it is not just the large animals that play a role in biodiversity. For example, a ladybug may seem unimportant, but they protect crops by eating other plant eating insects.
