Piece the evidence together and decide whether the accused is guilty or not guilty

reach a unanimous vote
if decision cant be made there is a hung jury and the accused is tried again
jury must be satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused commited the crime in order to find them guilty
what are the strengths of the jury system
Spreads the responsibility o the decision (upholding fairness)
independent and impartial
whats the weaknesses of the jury system
jurors dont have to give reason for their decison
