  • this mural was commissioned as a live installation during the Doors Open Day event in 2014
  • Doors Open Day is an annual event in which over one hundred theatres, museums, factories, studios breweries etc open their doors to the public for free one week in September
  • Doors Open Day has transformed into a weeklong event. In the past Glasgow has held seminars, special exhibitions, played music all of the city and of course, commissioned this mural.

Rogue One

  • This mural is by the famous Glaswegian Street Artists Rogue One, whose real name is Bobby McNarmara
  • in an interview bobby states that the rogue originated from rogue trooper which is a character from a British science fiction comic called 2000ad
  • irony - star wars character
  • later he added the ‘One’ (similar to other artists - sometimes Smug goes by Smug One) this means that they work alone
  • he has mastered the art of spray paint for over 20 years
  • his work ranges from stencils, characters and canvases to large scale productions. He is currently considered to be one of the most famous and talented street artists in Europe.

  • when discussing this mural, he stated that he likes seeing Glasgow begin to appreciate spray paint murals because it makes him feel like we may finally be becoming like other European cities including Berlin, Paris and Barcelona.
  • this mural is designed to highlight the impact that wind power has here in Scotland. as a country, Scotland is looking towards renewable energies and making substantial effort to use more sustainable energies.
  • in 2018 scottish power became the first major UK energy firm to completely drop fossil fuels in favour of wind power and currently 68% of scotland’s energy is generated without fossil fuels!
  • say the nice thing about circularity (wind creating wind power)
