Perhaps the tercets are symbolic of the obstacles preventing the complete fulfilment and unity of both parties in the relationship - yet in the final stanza they are able to rid this obstacle and reconciliate

2 - Last stanza could be a literal emblem in turn, the couple are now reunited as a pair, as the one external factor (showcased in the extra line) is now rid.
