Within Subjects ANOVA Flashcards
(9 cards)
Within Subjects ANOVA
Test that compares 3 different scores from the same population
Ordered v. Unordered Means
Ordered: Conditions are presented in the same order to each participant
Unordered: All conditions are presented to each participant but in random order
Assumptions for Within Subjects ANOVA
Formal:
-Normality
–Each condition should have a normal distribution
-Sphericity
–Variance of the differences between all condition pairs should be equal
–Use Mauchly’s to test
–If p< 0.05 then use the Greenhouse Geisser correction
–P-value over 0.05 assumes spericity
Sum of Squares Subjects
How much do the subject means differ from the grand mean
Sum of Squares Time
Variability between the different conditions/time points
Sum of Squares Within
How much does each score differ from their respective group means
Sum of Squares Error
After accounting for the subject variance and all the within variance, the sum of squares error is what is left over
Omega Squared
You know this buddy
Why is Within more powerful than between
Less Error: Since you are using the same people, you remove the differences between groups
-Fewer Participants needed to find effect
-More efficient
