What is Eustress?
A stressor that produces a positive response.
EX like moving or a promotion.
What is Distress?
A stressor with a negative response.
EX like death of a loved one or divorce or financial problems.
Acute Stress Reactions
Reactions to stress that occur during a traumatic situation
Aerosol-generated procedure
Treatments that increase the risk for transmission if infections that are spread through the air or by droplets; CPR is an example
Airborne Transmission
The spread of an organism via droplets or dust
Bloodborne Pathogens
Pathogenic microorganisms that are present in humans. These pathogens include, and are not limited to, Hep B Virus, HIV
Burnout

A stress disorder characterized by a gradual lessening of compassion over time

The use of objects to limit a persons visibility to see you

The presence of infectious organisms on or in objects such as dressings, food, water, needles, wounds, or apatient’s body.

The tactical use of an impenetrable barrier for protection

A process that confirms the responses to critical incidents and defuses them, directing the emergency services personnel toward physical and emotional equilibrium

HIV Human immunodefficiency Virus
Acquired immunidefficiency syndrome AIDS is caused by HIV, which damages cells in the body’s immune system so that the body is unable to fight infection or certain cancers
