What does the twist do in a yarn?
The twist makes yarns stronger and prepares them for their end use.
Why are fibres often blended?
Improve in strength // combine properties of each component fibre // create an effect // improve the appearance, performance,comfort and aftercare of the fabric // reduce the cost of an expensive fibre
What is a single yarn?
Where one yarn is twisted around itself to make a yarn (cheaper yarns)
What is a ply yarn?
Two or more yarns twisted together (wool for suiting, fine cotton)
What is a core-spin yarn?
A multi component yarn, in which the core stays in the centre of the yarn
What is a yarn?
A continuous length of fibres of filament, with or without twist. Fibres made from staple fibres like cotton are called staple yarns, and the ones made from filament fibres,filament yarns!!!
