Socialization
Is the lifelong process whereby an individuals behavioural patterns values standards skills attitudes and motives are shaped to conform to those regarded as disireable in a particular society.
Social Referencing
Child will look toward another person to see how to respond.
Play
Limitted in the first 2 yrs; then “Sharing”-spontaneous or asked; then play besides others-“Parallel”; play with others- Cooperative play.
Attachment
The strong emotional ties a person develops toward significant others
Bonding
A special process of emotional attachment that may occur in the mins/hrs immediately after birth.
Stranger Anxiety (Mary Ainsworth)
A fear of strangers. Develops at 8 or 9 mths
Strange situation (test)
Lab exam where mom and child are in room (comfort relaxed normal) then stranger enters mom leaves and returns.
Temperament
Early-emerging and long-lasting biologically based level of emotional and behavioural response to environmental events.
Temperamey (Thomas and Chess)
Easy- Adaptable and Relaxed. Difficult- Fussy and easily frustrated. Slow to Warmup- Disturbed by new stimuli at 1st but adust to them. Others don’t fit- Unique infants.
Moral Development.
A system of learned activities about social practices, institutiions, and individual behaviiour to evaluate situations and behavior as being RIGHT or WRONG, GOOD o BAD

Level 1- Pre-Conventional(obedience and punishment)
Level 2- Conventional(rules and social conventions)
Level 3- Post-Conventional(conscience or principle)
