  • June 1965, Viet Cong troops attacked and overran a Special Forces camo at Dong Xoai, killing two Seabees including CM3 Marvin Shield.

The largest peacetime construction effort on the British Indian Ocean Territory of Diego Garcia. From 1971 to 1983, they built a remote forward logistic base and naval communications station.

During Operations Deser Shield and Desert Storm, approximately 5,000 Seabees from six NMCBs were employed in-theater. They built base camps, storage facilities, munitions transfer road, airfields, bed-down camp, hospital, POW camp, and a 200-mile, four-lane supply route.
