What is the primary objective of a part 145?
To establish a comprehensive system for the certification and oversight of maintenance organisations.
Which type of aircraft must be maintained in terms with part 145 regulations?
- Any aircraft used for commercial air transport.
- over 5700 kg.

What 3 main things must a organisation produce to apply for 145 approval?
- The results of a pre-audit.
- Documentation showing how they will comply with regulations (MOE).
- Appropriate facilities, including office accommodation.
Which staff member is the most important, and will result in a level 1 finding if the organisation does not have someone acting in this position?
The accountable manager.
What maintenance plan must be present?
A maintenance resource plan, ensuring it has sufficient staff to fulfil the maintenance requirements.
Which license holder is required for the base maintenance of complex motor powered aircraft?
Category C.
(Where B1 and B2 are support staff)
Is a CAT C required for base maintenance of non-complex motor powered aircraft?
No. B1/B2/B2L, B3, and L, can be sufficient.
For what type of certification are there no specific part 66 licenses?
Certifying components for release to service (Form 1)
What document should all certifying maintenance staff be kept on?
A register.
If an aircraft is grounded at a location other than the main base, what can happen to enable the aircraft to fly?
The organisation contracted to provide maintenance support, may issue a one-off certificate.

If a one off certificate is used to enable an aircraft to fly back to main base for repair, what report must be made?
Report to the CAA within 7 days of the issued certificate.
What is certification authorisation?
Issued to certifying staff by the organisation with the relevant approvals as necessary, to allow them to produce a CRS with the limitations stated on the approval.
What is the time requirement on keeping knowledge up-to-date regarding procedures, and things like EWIS, SMS, human factors?
Every 2 years
What is the minimum age required for an individual to exercise his license privileges?

What are the five classifications of component?
- Satisfactory condition. (Form 1’d)
- Unserviceable. (Can be maintained)
- Unsalvageable. (Out of life or non-repairable)
- Standard parts. (Things like smaller bolts that have traceable batch numbers)
- Raw and consumable material. (Must have traceability and spec details)
What must be done with unsalvageable components
They must be prevented from re-entering the component supply system, a.k.a. quarantined.
Can unsalvageable components be repaired or life-extended?
Yes, so long as it is in accordance with regulation 748/2012.
What are the 2 key protections required for electronic work cards/maintenance records?
- They must be safeguarded from unauthorised alteration.
- They must be protected with a backup copy that updates regularly every 24 hours.
Who should incorrect maintenance data be reported to?
The author.
If the operator insists on using their own work cards for maintenance, what must the 145 organisation do?
They must show that they have proof from the operator, or that it is recorded in the maintenance data amendment list.
What must be carried out after completion of maintenance?
A general verification must be carried out to ensure the aircraft is clear of tools, materials. and all panels are fitted.
What must be implemented after performing any ‘critical task’?
An error capturing method.
What 3 factors define a critical maintenance task?
- Tasks that affect control of the aircraft flight path or attitude (rigging, controls, cables).
- Tasks that affect aircraft stability control systems (autopilot, fuel transfer).
- Tasks that affect the aircraft propulsive force (engines, propellers, rotors).
