26
What is the purpose of the tech log?
For recording defects during operation, and maintenance carried out between scheduled maintenance visits. It’s also used for recording flight safety info that the crew need to know.
27
How many tech log sections are there?
5
28
What is tech log section 1 for?
Contains the details of the registered name and address of the operator, aircraft type, and registration marks.
29
What is section 2 of the tech log for?
- Next scheduled maintenance due. - Out of phase maintenance/components. - Current CRS from the last check.
30
What is section 3 of the tech log for?
- The pages for each day. - Flight hours, to and from. - Any maintenance performed. - Defects deferred. - Fuel/Oil uplifts.
31
What is section 4 of the tech log?
- Deferred defects with x-ref to the relevant Tech log page. - Rectification details.
32
What’s section 5 of the tech log?
Any necessary maintenance support info, including contact information.
33
What is Part M Subpart D?
Maintenance standards.
34
What happens to a deferred defect that isn’t rectified during a maintenance check?
It should be re-entered onto a new sheet, but retains the original date of when the defect was discovered.
35
What is Part M Subpart E?
Components.
36
What is a Satisfactory component?
Released on a Form 1 issued by a Part 145, 21, M or CAO/CAMO.
37
What is an unserviceable component?
A component that requires maintenance IAW with Part M Subpart E.
38
What is an Unsalvageable component?
Reached life limit, or contains a non-repairable defect.
39
What are Standard Parts?
Parts accompanied with traceability (e.g bolts, screws, seals, rivets etc.)
40
What is Raw/consumable material?
Metals etc. Meets the requirements of the specification and is traceable.
41
Who can perform maintenance of components?
Subpart F, Part 145, or Part CAO organisations.
42
Which components are not eligible for a Form 1, but come under the aircraft’s CRS instead?
Components installed on the aircraft that have had maintenance performed on them.
43
What is Part M subpart G?
CAMO. (This has been replaced by Annex Vc Part CAMO, on 24/03/22)
44
What document, similar to an MOE, does a CAMO use?
A continuing airworthiness management exposition (CAME)
45
What’s the most important staff member that a CAMO must have?
An accountable manager.
46
What’s ‘indirect approval’ in terms of CAME adjustments?
It defines minor amendments to the CAME that do not require CAA approval.
47
What are the main jobs of the CAMO?
- To develop and control a maintenance programme, and a reliability programme (if req.) - to gain approval for the maintenance programme from the CAA. - Manage the approval for any mod or repair. - Ensure all ADs or ODs are carried out. - Ensure all defects corrected. - Manage and retain records for all the activities.
48
Who must establish the procedures for performing airworthiness reviews?
The CAMO.
49
What is the responsibility of airworthiness review staff?
The document and physical survey, and they must be satisfied that the aircraft complies with Part M, and is therefore airworthy.
50
What is an ARC?
An airworthiness review certificate.
51
What does an ARC certify?
Only certifies aircraft airworthiness to the scope of the review, and at the time of the review.
52
Whose responsibility is it to ensure the aircraft is airworthy at any given time?
