• Apply pressure immobiliation bandage
• splint lib
• immobilise to strecther
• 2x IV access
• Manage resp distress with O2 and supportive care

How do you manage spider bites

Answer 2

Red back:
no PBI
- apply ice

Big black spiders:

• apply PBI and immobilise
• Manage pulmonary oedema with CPAP

Question 3

How do you manage marine animal stings

Answer 3

Non-tropical jellyfish:

• wash with sea-water
• gently pick off tenticles
• apply hot/warm water to site
• consider ice

Barbed fish/rays:

• do not remove bard
• manage haemorrhage
• immerse in warm hot water if available

Blur ringed octopus:
- apply PBI and immobilise patient on stretcher
