  1. First reading - first introduction
  2. Second reading - main principles are considered
  3. Committee stage - bill examined in detail
  4. Report stage - debate vote on any amends
  5. Third reading - final chance for commons to debate
  6. The lords - same stages but at House of Lords.
  7. Royal assent - monarch for signing
