what is stereotypy
a behaviour pattern that takes the form of a repetitive behaviour
what is misdirected behaviour
normal behaviour that is directed in appropriately; eg animals may mutiliate themselves by overgrooming, plucking or chewing itself
what is failure of sexual and parental behaviour
poor conditions can result in failure of animals to breed successfully, and can also lead to offspring being rejected
what are altered levels of activity
excessive sleeping or hyperaggression can be a sign of poor living conditions
