Q

How was the final solution going to be organized?

A
  • Women, children, the old & the sick were to be sent for ‘special treatment.’
  • The young and fit would go through a process called ‘destruction through work.’
  • Shooting was too inefficient as the bullets were needed for the war effort
  • On arrival the Jews would go through a process called ‘selection.
  • Jews were to be rounded up and put into transit camps called
  • Conditions in the Ghettos were designed to be so bad that many die whilst the rest would be willing to leave these areas in the hope of better conditions

The Jews living in these Ghettos were to be used as a cheap source of labour.

-The remaining Jews were to be shipped to ‘resettlement areas’ in the East.

Q

How did the Reichstag Fire help Hitler?

A
  1. Emergency powers: Hitler persuaded Hindenburg to pass the ‘Law for the Protection of People and State’. This ended freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom of the press.
  2. Election success: Hitler called fresh elections. He used his new powers to make life difficult for non-Nazi
candidates. Hitler increased his share of the vote and thereby gave his party more power in parliament.

Q

1)What did you learn from the film?

-
2)Compare and contrast Anne and Hannah

3) What camp did they both reunite in?
4) Why was Hannah kept in a different part of the camp than Anne?
5) What can we learn about the Holocaust from the film?

A

1) We learned about the deep details of concentration camps, we learned that there were sections for people who were privileged and less example Anne and Hannah
2) learned about the cruel reality of the camps on how they were fed so little and they were emotionally unstable because of the torture

3) Both were Jewish, have sisters, don’t want a boring and predictable life
2)Sent to the same concentration camp (Bergen - Belsen)
Differences:
Anne is confident (almost overconfident), a “normal girl” for her age, but wants to travel the world (which is irregular for a woman of the time) )Hannah is timid, disinterested in “normal girl” things, but want to become nurse and have 10 children (a normal thing for a woman to grow up to become)
Sent to different sides of camp
Anne has an older sister, Hannah has a younger sister

3) Germany, Bergon - Belson

4) Hannah was waiting to be exchanged with a German POW, Anne was just a part of the regular group of jews
- HANNAH was in a more privileged area because she had a palestine passport

5)Lots of confusion in the jewish community, jews were treated poorly in their cities, then shipped to concentration/death camps, lived in terrible conditions, fought to stay alive,
