What is the presentation of golfers elbow?

A
  1. Activities that involve repetitive wrist flexion
  2. Golf swing, baseball pitching, lifting with palm up
  3. May have associated numbness and tingling in ulnar distribution
    *positive Tinel’s over cubital tunnel

What will be found on the PE?

A
  1. Tender at and distal to the medial epicondyle
  2. Pain with testing of wrist flexors (arm in pronation and flex wrist against resistance)
  3. Pain with limiting with palm up

A
  1. Radiographs
  2. MRI

What is the treatment for golfers and tennis elbow?

A
  1. Lifestyle modifications #1
  2. Chopat strap (goes around the proximal elbow, put it over the tendon. Will take pressure off of the attachment spot)
  3. NSAIDs
  4. Heat/ice
  5. PT
    *stretching/strengthening
  6. Corticosteroid injection (2-3 total)
    *can cause tendon rupture, fatty atrophy
  7. Surgical debridement
    *if conservative treatment fails
