What are some of the symtpoms of veinous disease
Pain
Infection
Ulcers
Swelling
Bleeding
What can an examination of a patient with venous disease involve
Looking at long and short saphenous vein
Look for oedema, disolourisation & eczema
Listen for biphasic reflux
Palpate vein for thrombosis
Trendelenburg test
Doppler and Tap test
What is the trendelenurg test
Lay patient on examination table
Raiseleg above level of heart
Press at saphenofemoral junction
Ask patient to stand see if vein fills
If vein doesnt fill when junction occluded then icnompetence lies here
What is the gold standard imaing technique for venous imaging
Venous duplex
Shows size and if theres backflow of blood
What is the management for chroni venous insufficiency
Compression if no arterial compromise
Surgical intervention
Endovenous treatment for superficial venous disease
-Causes rise in temp. within vein leading thermal injury to tissues
