Q

What are enzymes main properties (4 marks)

A

-they are all large protiens
- there is a space within the protein molecule called the active site
- each enzyme catalyses for a specific reason
-they work best at a specific temperature or pH called the optimum

Q

What is the lock and key theory

A

It is a model used to explain how enzymes work: the chemical that reacts is called the substrate (key) and it fits inside the enzymes active site (lock)
