adaptations of eukaryotic cells Flashcards
what are some examples of specialised eukaryotic cells
red blood cells
sperm cells
nerve cells
white blood cells
epithelial cells
fat cells
what is a specialised cell
a cell that can get rid of oraganisms or change their shape to carry out its function in a more efficient way
how is a nerve cell specialised
they are long so they can get messages to the brain quickly
how are white blood cells specialised
they can change their shape to engluf pathogens
how is a sperm cell specialised
it has a tail for movement
it has a lot of mitrochondria to give it energy
how are epithelial cells specialised
they have lots of villi to increase surface area
how are fat cells specialised
they store lipids and turn them into energy when needed
how are red blood cells specialised
they havent got a nucleus so they have more space to carry oxygen around the body
they have a concave structure to maximise surface area to absob oxygen
