Q

Engine considerations in the climb

A

There is risk of the engine temp rising (due to high power setting and low airspeed). So:
- Climb with mixture FULL RICH
- Monitor engine temps regularly
- If temp becomes too high, increase airspeed and reducing power by climbing at a shallower angle

Q

What are the benefits of a cruise / normal climb

A
  • Better forward visibility
  • Faster EnRoute performance
  • Better engine control due to greater airflow over control surfaces
  • Better engine cooling
  • More comfortable attitude

Q

Entering a climbing turn

A
  • Establish a/c in straight climb at the desired airspeed and trim
  • Look out, clear the area and select reference point
  • Roll into turn whilst applying same side rudder
  • Hold nose at a slightly lower attitude to maintain airspeed
