Key Terms For The Heart Flashcards
What’s an adaptation of the left ventricle
It is more muscular so it contract more powerfully and can pump blood around the body
What’s an adaptation of the right ventricle
It’s less muscular but still contracted to get blood out of the heart to the lungs
What’s an adaptation of the ventricles
Thicker walls So it can push blood out of the heart
What’s an adaptation for the atrioventricular valves
They link the atria to the ventricles and stop the blood flowing back into atria when ventricles contract
What is the atrias adaptation
It pushes the blood short distances into ventricles
What’s the adaptation of the semi-lunar valves
They link ventricles to pulmonary arteries and aorta and then stop blood flowing back into the heart after ventricles contract
What do the cords do
Attach the atrioventricular valves to ventricles to stop them being forced up into the atria when ventricles contract
