Describe Operant conditioning (6)

A
  • behaviour learned through association
  • Trial and error
  • Give positive reinforcement (S-R bond strengthened so a correct dominant response is created)
    -Thorndikes law:
    law of exercise - Encourage repetition to acquire skill
    law of effect - positive outcome = repeat of behaviour
    law of readiness - physical, emotional state of learner

  • also known as Observational learning
  • Copying behaviour of others
  • usually high status role models like professionals
  • Demonstrations need to be of a high standard
  • Banduras ARMM
    Attention: Focusing on important cues
    Retention: Learner must remember demo
    Motivated: learner must have drive to learn skill
    Motor Reproduction: Must be physically and mentally capable to performer the skill
