Why Italy?

A

Italy had been the center of the Roman empire, and so it had more reminders of classical civilization than any other country in western Europe. The first great center of the Italian Renaissance was the city of Dante Florence in central Italy. Florence had become an important Trade Center. People trading usually passed through Florence This means products that were headed towards Venice passed through Florence resulting in Florence seeing more artwork from different areas.
