What does the Posterior Pituitary do?
Simple neurons from brain reach down to post pit and release vasopressin and oxytocin
What does the Anterior Pituitary do?
Complex neurons in brain communicate with cells in ant pit which communicate with other cells in body (domino effect)
What two hormones does the Anterior Pituitary Release?
Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
What does Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH) do?
Stimulates adrenal glands to produce cortisol which helps regulate stress response, metabolism, etc…
What does Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) do?
Stimulates growth and development of ovarian follicles (which contain eggs)
