A

Overall rate of crime did not increase but number of accused did.
Charges of theft , assault , threatening behaviour and crime against state ( violent disorder at political demonstrations ) all increased.

Impact on youth : Political Extremism

A

KDP : Recruited youth from “wild cliques” to cause trouble in the streets.
Nazis and SA offered food , shelter , uniforms and thrill of street battles to reduce the boredom.
Most unemployed youths had no/little contact with such groups.

A

1) Gov wanted to lesson the effect on the youth.
2) Day centres of work - related activities
3) Compulsory labour schemes : unskilled manual labour schemes and lower than minimum wage.
4) October 1930 , June 1932 - Strikes against such pay
5) Voluntary labour schemes - residential work camps for 6 months
6) Priority was getting off streets not necessarily into perm at long term work

A

1) Female proportion of workforce increased
2) Debate of whether or not married woman should work while men where unemployed
3) “Double earners” - may 1932 law passed where central gov employees could be dismissed if there husbands could support the family
4) Reich postal service fired 1000 married woman
5) Cause for equal rights set back
