Why did Nazism appeal to people?

A

They made their policies as vague as possible. Right and left joined as they agreed with at least one of their policies (only 3 of them) :

Promises of better pensions and increased employment appealed to common man.
Promise to re-militarise Germany would bring in huge industrial contact boosting the economy.
Hitlers hatred of Jews struck a chord with many people - they were a convenient scapegoat for Germany’s problems.

How did Hitler funded his campaign?

A

Hitler attracted funding from the rich who were scared of a communist takeover.
He used this money to fund propaganda and organise election campaigns.
Fritz Thyssen - one of the early financial backers do the Nazi party.

A

Hitler presented himself as a force for change
“If one realised a truth, that truth is valueless so long as there is lacking the indomitable will to turn this realisation into action” 1922
Nazi propaganda claimed power , strength and determination to succeed made Hitler who he was.
Discipline and unity reinforced by the imagery of the Sa - Sweep all opponents aside.

A

They changed name to NSDAP to try and get the working class vote.
Sought the support of wealthy business man Fritz Thyssen - early financial baker in 1929

How did propaganda help with electoral success?

A

Money from business meant Hitler could easily tour by air and road to make speeches to all allies.
Nazi speakers well trained in oratorial techniques and in ideology.
Promised no Weimar and vague but powerful vision of a prosperous and united Germany restored to its rightful position among Great European powers
