why is protection an aim of punishment?

A

punishment must serve the purpose of protecting the victims, victim’s family, witnesses of the general public from criminal activity from dangerous criminals.

A

the act of making an individual “incapable” of committing a crime eg. execution.
through incapacitation, an offender is prevented from having their freedom.
