Q

Factors that affect the voltage of a cell (3 factors)

A
  • The greater the difference in reactivity of the two electrodes, the greater the voltage
  • Type & concentration of electrode used
  • Conditions, such as temperature

Q

Why are some cells rechargeable and some aren’t?

A
  • Rechargeable cells:
  • Chemical reactions are reversed when an external electrical current is supplied
  • Non-rechargeable cells:
  • Reactions stops when one of the reactants is used up
