What OSHA requirement is the 2N/2 out procedure based on?

What is the objective of 2N/2 out?
To have fully equipped firefighters in position during the initial fire attack to react in the event of a mayday situation
The 2N/2 out procedure will be established when?
Anytime firefighters are on air inside a structure with no other units having arrived on scene
When is 2 in/2 out procedure not required?
In the event, the initial company arrives on scene of a fire in the incipient stages
How does OSHA define the incipient stage of a fire?
A fire, which is in the initial/beginning stage and which can be controlled or extinguished by a portable fire extinguisher, class two standpipe, or small hose system without the need for protective clothing/breathing apparatus
What are the standard exceptions to the 2N/2 out requirement at structure fires?
•When there is a reported or suspected life hazard where immediate action could prevent the loss of life
• When the fire is in an incipient stage
During the initial deployment of the first in company, when is it necessary to communicate the 2N/2 out standard?
When the standard is not met
