A

Class IA antiarrhythmic /moderate Na+ channel blocker -> decreases slope and amplitude of phase 0 depolarization for non-pacemaker action potential

A

Persistent cardiac arrest secondary to VF/VT refractory to lidocaine

Contraindications

A
  • Severe conduction disturbances, especially 2/3 degree heart blocks
  • PVC’s with bradycardia

A

Confusion, drowsiness, bradycardia, hypotension, heart blocks, cardiac and respiratory arrest, N&V, Seizures

A

Adult
100mg infusion over 5 minutes; maintenance 1-4mg/min

Precautions

A

D/c if: dysrhythmia is suppressed, hypotension occurs, QRS complex widens by 50%, or 17mg/kg has been administered

A

Chance of neurotoxicity increases if given with Lidocaine
