  • It is a non participatory observational method based on observing people with their consent
    -The researcher may sit with an observation schedule & systematically commit observations.

A
  • Ethical as it’s overt.
  • Positivists would favour this method.
  • Easier to analyse the data collected.
    -Less training is needed.

Validity :
- Meanings which pupil & teachers attach to behaviour may be ignored.
Observer presence:
Teachers & pupil’s behaviour may be put off & reduce validity.
