Q

When does a fire warning appear in the flight deck?

A

If both A and B loops send a fire signal, or
One loops sends a fire signal and the other is failed, or
Breaks in both loops occur within 5s of each other (flame effect), or
A test is performed on the FIRE panel

Q

What are the 8 things that happen when the flight crew pushes the ENG 1(2) FIRE push button?

A
Silences the aural fire warning
Arms the fire extinguisher squibs
Closes the low-pressure fuel valve
Closes the hydraulic fire shut off valve
Closes the engine bleed valve
Closes the pack flow control valve
Cuts off FADEC power supply

11
Q

Describe what happens if an APU fire is detected on the ground

A

The APU initiates an automatic shutdown sequence:

  • APU low pressure fuel shutoff valve closes
  • ECB receives a signal that starts the shutdown sequence
  • The extinguisher bottle discharges automatically (3 seconds after the appearance of the fire warning)

16
Q

How many smoke detectors are fitted in the forward and aft cargo compartments of an A319 and A320? Where are they located?

A

2 in the forward cargo compartment
4 in the aft cargo compartment

They are located in the ceiling panel cavities

The smoke detectors are linked to one of the two detection loops

FCOM 26-50-10

17
Q

How many smoke detectors are fitted in the forward and aft cargo compartments of an A321? Where are they located?

A

4 in the forward cargo compartment
6 in the aft cargo compartment

They are located in the ceiling panel cavities

The smoke detectors are linked to one of the two detection loops

FCOM 26-50-10

18
Q

When does smoke in a cargo compartment activate the cargo smoke warning?

A

If both smoke detectors detect smoke, or

If one smoke detectors detects smoke and the other is inoperative

19
Q

How many fire bottles are used for the cargo compartment fire extinguishing system?

A

One

20
Q

How many discharge heads are there on the cargo compartment fire extinguishing bottle?

A

Two (which then supplies three nozzles, one for forward and two for aft compartment)

21
Q

How many nozzles are connected to the cargo compartment fire extinguishing bottle?

A

Three (connected to two discharge heads)

One nozzle is in the forward compartment, two nozzles are in the aft compartment

FCOM 26-50-10

22
Q

Will the ENG and APU FIRE push buttons extinguish when a fire is no longer detected?

A

Yes

23
Q

Will the CARGO SMOKE push buttons extinguish when a fire is no longer detected?

A

No (the DISCH light comes on in amber when the bottle is empty)
