16
Q

What are the 7 causes of the red autoland light illuminating? (When does this light become active?)

A
Both APs lost
LOC 1/4 dot deviation, above 15ft RA
Loss of LOC above 15ft RA
GLIDE 1 dot deviation, above 100ft RA
Loss of GLIDE above 100ft RA
Difference between both RAs of over 15ft
Long flare
Early/untimely flare

(Active below 200ft)

17
Q

How many approaches can be attempted?

A

2 consecutively subject to significant weather improvement

18
Q

When do the centreline lights go red and white alternating?

A

900m from end

19
Q

When do centreline lights go red?

A

300m from end

20
Q

What is the difference between fail operational and fail passive?

A

Fail operational means the approach, flare and landing can still be completed automatically in the event of a failure below alert height.

Fail passive is when, with a failure, there is no significant out of trim condition or deviation to flight path, but the landing cannot be completed automatically.

21
Q

When is the latest ATC will initiate LVPs by?

A

Ceiling <200ft or RVR <600m

22
Q

What distance must a take off alternate be within?

23
Q

What distance must an adequate aerodrome along the route be within?

A

380nm (A319)

400nm (A320)

24
Q

What is the approach ban?

A

1000ft

RVR must be above minimum required for approach to continue past 1000ft, if it reduces below 1000ft you may continue

25
Is ATHR required to be used on an auto land?
Yes, but for Cat 3A and Cat 3B auto lands only | ATHR inop in MEL puts the aircraft into Cat 2 only
