What is the Early Modern Age?
Around 1500 when Europe began to have changes in their political, economic, social, religious and intellectual life
What is an ‘age’ or era?
a period of time in history, which was first discussed during the Renaissance
Why did people in the Renaissance start to talk about ages and eras?
Renaissance people realized that their life was very different from those in the Middle Ages, so should be considered a separate historical time period
What happened in the Renaissance and Reformation that led to the Early Modern Age?
People began to question all aspects of life from space and the sun revolving around the earth or not, to religious thought - why are humans on earth anyways
Why is change slow and like dominoes?
One small change comes slowly, but when it does it impacts all kinds of other areas.
Explain the domino effect of change from the invention of trucks
-people travel more, ideas are spread more rapidly, horses and wagons no longer needed, more and better roads are needed, new laws and regulations are needed
What is the Renaissance?
A time of great revivial or re-birth of art, literature, learning in Europe during the 14-16th Centuries. Came after Medieval times
What are the Middle Ages?
500-1450CE in Europe
What is the Reformation?
religious movement in Europe during the 16th C to reform the Roman Catholic Church
