Q

what can be the problem if the only thing working in your computer is the power supply fan?
996

A

the problem can be any thing from the motherboard to the CPU, Memory, peripherals and more.
to solve the problem we unplug all the peripheral from the motherboard to see if the problem is the motherboard, if the motherboard is working good we move on to the peripheral we blug them back one at the time until we find the problem.

Q

what can be the problem if your computer slow down on the read/ write file?
997

A

the first thing to check for will be the hard drive, because if the hard drive does not have enough free space it can slow down your computer. ( 10% of free space )
to solve the problem we need to free some space by Defragmenting the hard drive.

  • the display unit.
  • if the connection between the motherboard and LCD screen is damaged.
17
Q

what is toggling the display mean ?

1003

A

is when you direct the video out put to an external device by pressing the function key + LCD cut off switch ( F4 or F8)

18
Q

what to do when the keyboard is not responding ?

A

try to reboot the system.

19
Q

what does the Fn key do when it is stuck on?

1004

A

the only keys that will work are those with the function on them.

20
Q

if in a dot-matrix printer you have a small black line running through a line of print consistently, what will be the problem and will you do to solve the problem?
1007

A

that will be that the print head pin stuck inside the print head.
the solution for that is to replace the print head.

21
Q

Sometimes you’ll print out some information to the printer, and it’s just garbage. It’s a bunch of noise and nonsense on the page. what will be the problem?

A

You’ll want to check to see what kind of printer driver you’re using.

22
Q

the majority of inkjet printer problems are related to what?

1010

A

ink cartridge.

23
Q

you can perform 3 tests to narrow down which assembly is causing the problem in the laser jet what are they?
1022

A

the engine self test
the engine half self test
the secret self test

24
Q

the engine self test

1022

A

this test causes the printer to print a single page with vertical lines, if this test is performed that mean that the printer can print successfully.

25
Q

the engine half self test

1023

A

you can stop the half self test at any point of the printing process to determine the source of malfunction.

26
Q

what can cause you inc-jack printer to have a paper jams

1011

A

a worn pick up roller

the wrong type of paper.

27
Q

a laser printer’s DC power supply 3 different DC supply what are they ?
1014

A

pin 1 +5v
pin 5 -5v
pin 9 +24v

28
Q

how many pins are in the power interface of a laser printer?

1014

A

20 pins female interface

29
Q

what are the 3 major causes of blank pages/

1017

A

the toner cartridge
the transfer corona assembly
the high voltage power supply
