What is health
The state of physical and mental well-being
What is a communicable disease
Disease caused by microorganisms that can be transmitted for one person to another
What is a non communicable disease
A disease which cannot be transmitted from one person to another
What is a risk factor
An attribute that increases individual’s chance of developing a disease
How can diet affect health
Too much food or a high fat diet and linked to obesity and type 2 diabetes
Too little food / lack of nutrition -amenia vitamin deficiencies
How does alcohol affect liver and brain function
Excessive long-term alcohol use may lead to liver cirrhosis
Increase risk of liver cancer
Damages brain tissues and nerve cells
How does smoking affect the heart
Narrows blood vessels
Damages vessels lining
Increases blood fat pressure as nicotine is a stimulant which increases heart rate
How does radiation affect the health
Radiation penetrate cells and damages DNA leading to mutation
Mutation in the DNA can affects self-division
If cell division is uncontrolled it can lead to cancer
