- Positive Psychology
The scientific study of human strengths, well-being, and what makes life most worth living. Instead of focusing on mental illness, it emphasizes positive experiences, traits, and institutions that help individuals and communities thrive.
- Subjective well-being
Expressing gratitude, a positive subjective experience, increases subjective well-being.
an individual’s personal evaluation of their life and overall feelings about it
- Wisdom
love of learning, perspective, judgement, creativity, curiosity - a combination of knowledge, experience, and judgment used to make thoughtful decisions that benefit both the individual and society (the early bird gets the worm)
- Courage
courage is viewed as a significant virtue, enabling individuals to overcome fear and personal limitations to live a fuller, more fulfilling life.

- Humanity
a core virtue and a significant component of human flourishing, encompassing the ability to cultivate and nurture relationships, kindness, and empathy towards others (acts of kindness)
- Justice
a virtue encompassing civic strengths that contribute to a healthy community, promoting fairness, equality, and the well-being of all
(a volunteer coordinator ensuring all participants have equal opportunities and are treated fairly)
- Temperance
virtue of strengths that protect against excess, such as self-regulation, humility, and forgiveness.
- Transcendence
experiences that allow individuals to go beyond their usual self-focus and connect with something larger than themselves -
when individuals shift their focus from personal gain to the needs and well-being of others, driven by intrinsic motivation and a strong sense of moral concern
- Posttraumatic Growth
the positive change that can occur after experiencing trauma or a major life crisis. Individuals develop greater resilience, deeper relationships, and a stronger sense of purpose.
