Midline longitudinal tear in rectal mucosa

Sentinal pile/mucosal tag at external aspect

A

Proctoscopy/sigmoidoscopy (exclude other anorectal disease)

-enlarged nodes in groin suggest complicating factor

May heal spontaneously
Local anaesthetic/lubricant laxative (symptomatic)
