what are the ethicial standards that relate to clinical practise?
character, health, conduct performance and ethics, proficiency, continuous professional development, education and training, prescribing.
what is character?
this guideline requires that clinicians must have a character report from a friend longer than 3 years as well as not having a criminal record.
what is the health standard?
this ensures that the clinician does not let their health impact their work, and are obliged to report any changes with mental or physical well-being. they have checks every two years.
what is the Conduct, performance and ethics standard?
ensuring that the best interests of the patient is put before anything else. for example referring them to another clinician who may be more suitable in dealing with a problem they have.
what is proficiency?
ensuring that you practise is always of high skill and quality, this should be seen through out all practises at all times.
what is training and education?
ensuring that you have the minimum qualifications required to become a clinician.
what is continuous professional development?
going to training to keep up to date with new advancements and improving their practise and skill set.
what is prescribing?
this is the standard which ensures people are prescribing the correct prescriptions and safely.
why may it be difficult to obtain to getting informed consent?
because when dealing with mental health patients they may be unable to make a well-thought-through decision.
what is the difficulty with the increased advancement in knowledge?
it makes it difficult to keep up, therefore standards may become outdated quickly.
