A term used to describe people with a large fat content - caused by an imbalance of calories consumed to energy expenditure.
What is BMI?
Body mass index.
How many calories should females have per day?
2000 calories
How many calories should males have per day?
2500 calories
What is energy expenditure?
The amount of energy taken into the body must be matched by the amount of energy expended.
Physical effects of obesity?
Heart disease Diabetes Cancer Blood pressure increases Cholesterol.
Mental and Emotional effects of obesity?
Depression
Confidence.
Social effects of obesity?
Unable to socialise
Unable to leave home.
What happens if your calories number increases but your exercise doesn’t?
You gain weight.
What effects does obesity have on fitness?
Limits stamina and cardiovascular endurance - difficult to perform over a long period of time.
Limits flexibility - difficult to perform a full range of movements.
Limits agility - difficult to change direction quickly.
Limits power/speed - hard to react quickly enough or produce force.
