Q

Which organ responds to hypercalcaemia by increasing activity?

A

The Thyroid - the C cells secrete calcitonin. Calcitonin has a role in calcium homeostasis although it is mainly controlled by PTH and Vit D. Calcitonin inhibits calcium absorption hence needs to be released in hypercalcaemia.
