Peer- to- peer

A

. Two or more PCs share files and access devices such as printers without requiring a separate server or software
. Every connected PC is a server and a client
. Access rights are controlled by setting permissions on each individual machine
. If PCs on the network are slow or broken they will affect every other machine

A

. Each computer and network device are connected to a single cable
. Can be hard to troubleshoot
. Damaged cable results in a network failure or a network split into two

A

.Every node connects to a central network device
. The central network device acts as a server whilst the peripheral devices act as clients
.If one computer fails, the rest of the network works fine
. Central device determines performance and number nodes that can be handled

Ring

A

. Device connection create a circular data path
. Each network device is connected to two others
. Packets of data travel from one machine to the next until they reach their destination
. If any connection is broken the whole network is affected

A

. Each node is connected to most of the others
. Each connection carries its own data load
. Faults are easily diagnosed
. installation and configuration can be difficult
. Network can self heal if there is a breakdown so there are no interruptions of service to any node
