  • SMOKING: 2-5 fold increased risk of the disease
  • Aromatic amines e.g. 2-Naphthylamine- rubber and dye stuffs
  • Pelvic irradiation e.g. for prostate cancer therapy
  • Chronic cystitis- schistosomiasis and chronic catheter use
