  • > DISCHARGE: clear or blood
  • > subareolar mass
  • > peri or post emnopausal women

There are 2 types

  • lactational - stasis of milk in lactating women
  • non lactational in smokers

Presentation

Swollen breast, tender, warm, red and might have general feeling unwell (fever, unwell, aches)

Complication: abcess- > fistula

Bone- bone scan & look at calcium bone profile and FBC

What are the treatments for breast cancer?

A

SURGERY: lumpectomy, mastectomy and axillary lymphnode clearance or sentinel lymphnode biopsy

MEDICATION: tamoxifen (ER antagonist) or Aromatase inhibitior (letrozole)

CHEMOTHERAPY: adjuvant and neo- adjuvant

MONOCLONAL antibodies:

RADIOTHERAPY: reduces risk of reocurrence post surgery
